The Fukuyama City Sludge Treatment Center is a facility for purifying human waste and septic tank sludge produced by households by using microorganisms to create clean water. This key facility, which began operations in April 2013, has a processing capacity of 200kl per day and can process approximately 60% of the human waste and septic waste sludge produced by Fukuyama City. The collected sludge is reborn as combustion improvers, which help in the incineration of garbage at incineration plants. The tour of this facility consists of seeing and feeling first-hand how water is transformed. Visitors will see and feel water samples from each step of the process as well as hear explanations regarding how household waste and septic tank sludge are converted into discharged liquid waste.
