The Fukuyama Recycling Center is a facility where recyclable waste collected throughout the city is sorted by material, such as metal, aluminum, glass, and others. Cans are sorted using a magnetic separator in order to separate metal and aluminum cans, then they are compressed to a standard size to be shipped out to recycling plants. Bottles are hand-sorted by color (brown, transparent, etc.) and are shipped to recycling plants.
